Sweetwater is a small town located in Nolan County with a strong history. Sweetwater became a railroad town in its early years and then became a large telegraph center.
In the 1970s, the town was made up of about 250 businesses including gypsum plants, cement plants, packing companies, apparel manufacturers, and more, some of which still operate today.
The area has remained a hub for cotton, oil, and cattle and has become a large wind power generating region. Today, around 11,000 people call Sweetwater, TX, home.
